About Lee Magnon
Since 1980, Lee was the president and chief executive officer of Dixie Testing and Products, Inc. (Houston Texas), an independent testing laboratory providing services for the oil and gas related industry. Lee ran the company with help from his wonderful wife, Mary at his side, and the company now continues under his daughter Brenda Magnon Wile and son-in-law, Ronnie Wile.

Aside from his passion for his family, Louisiana State University, and hunting, Lee was an ardent supporter and worker for NACE. He strongly felt that education lifted people up and was always willing to help students find their path. He instilled in the many NACE members he touched a commitment to education both through the universities system and NACE and encouraged each and every person to make a positive impact in education.

He served most of the offices in the Houston Section and the South Central Region (now Central Area). For more than eight years he served as chair at various levels of the Houston Section?s annual Gulf Coast Corrosion Control Seminar. He received the 1989 NACE Distinguished Service Award and the 1991 South Central Region Eben Junkin Award in recognition of these services. He served on numerous technical committees and presented technical papers at the NACE regional and national conferences.

Lee served as a director from the South Central Region on the NACE Board of Directors from 1992 to 1995 and served on many administrative committees such as Membership, RMC, Policy and Bylaws, Awards, Nominating, and Technical Facilities Advisory (many committees as chair). He also served on many ad-hoc committees, most notably the 1993 Board Ad Hoc Committee on Operations and Procedures (Co-OP) and a 2001 committee of the same name, both of which realigned the Board and association.

Lee received the R.A. Brannon Award in 2003, which recognizes a current NACE member whose outstanding service has contributed to the development and improvement of NACE at the association, committee, or board level. He was honored for his activities and contributions to NACE that significantly impacted the areas of financial performance, operational improvements, membership development, and strategic direction through measureable results that are evident in each of these areas.

Lee Magnon was a man of commitment, sincerity, wit, and humor and enjoyed life to the fullest. He inspired many within the NACE community and encouraged us to get involved, be aware and be committed to the future. We are pleased to offer this scholarship knowing that it will allow a student to achieve their dreams and accomplish their goals.
