Workforce Development Program for Veterans

AMPP is committed to helping qualified and interested U.S. military veterans receive the training and support they need to embark on a rewarding career in the corrosion and protective coatings industry. The AMPP EMERG Workforce Development Program provides participants with the following:

  • AMPP TRAINING FOR VETERANS
    EMERG will support one choice from three (3) AMPP training paths, up to a Level 1 certification course (CP, CIP or NBPI), and reimbursement for travel and lodging during the course of training:

Step1 – Fundamentals of Protective Coatings (C1) eCourse
Step 2 – Coating Inspector Program Level 1 (CIP 1)

*PATH B: *
Step 1 – Fundamentals of Protective Coatings (C1) eCourse
Step 2 – NAVSEA Basic Paint Inspector (NBPI)

*PATH C: *
Step 1a – Basic Corrosion – Virtual
Step 1b – Cathodic Protection Fundamentals: Math & Electricity 4-hour eCourse
Step 2 – Cathodic Protection Level 1 (CP 1)

  • MENTORING FROM INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS
    Mentors provide a knowledge base, counsel participants on career options within the corrosion and protective coatings industry, and assist with opportunities for networking.

1. Eligibility Requirements

  • Minimum Education — Candidates must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Employment and Career Status — Candidates must currently be seeking employment in the corrosion control and protective coatings industry, OR employed in the corrosion control and protective coatings industry seeking to advance their career with AMPP certifications. Applications received from candidates who currently hold an AMPP (NACE or SSPC) certification will not be considered.
  • Military Veteran, “Short” Active Service Members, National Guardsmen, or Reservists

2. Candidate Evaluation
Completed applications, including all requested documentation received will be reviewed by the Selection Committee. In some cases, the staff may find it necessary to obtain further information from a candidate prior to making a determination about acceptance into the program. The following information should be included for review by the Selection Committee:

  • Completed Online Application
  • Two (2) signed reference letters from commanding officers, employers, or colleagues
  • Proof of Veteran Status — DD-214 Form (long, unedited version) with Character of Service

3. Future Consideration
In the event a candidate is not selected for participation, they may submit a new application during a future round.
